/ About

Hi, I'm Shan — and iotashan is how I sign my work.

I formed iotashan, LLC as the home for everything I make: my own products, the experiments that keep me sharp, and the consulting and training work I take on for teams I believe in.

I've been building professionally for 30 years — since 1996 — across the full stack. These days that's React Native on mobile, React on the web, and Node, Firebase and AWS on the back end. Over the years I've shipped for names like AT&T, Ford, BMW, Abbott Labs and PwC, directly or through the shops I've worked at. I care about craft, clear writing, and software that respects the person using it.

I do all my own work. I'm happy to start something from scratch — or come in, clean up an underperforming project, and bring it back up to current SDKs and best practices. When I'm not at the keyboard I'm usually dialing in an espresso or tinkering with a side project that may never ship.

/ How I work

Small and often

Ship the smallest useful thing, then learn from it. Big launches hide big mistakes.

Craft you can feel

The details people can't name are the ones they remember. I sweat them.

Plainly written

Clear words, clear code, clear updates. No jargon, no surprises in the invoice.
